Why I'm Excited to Join the Relocation Directors Council (RDC)

By Timothy Neubauer · Jun 26, 2026

I'm honored to share that I've joined the Relocation Directors Council (RDC) as one of its newest members. RDC featured me in a new member video, and I had a great conversation with Andrea Bowles, CRP, of the RDC Communications Committee about my background, the part of relocation I enjoy most, and what I'm looking forward to as a member.

A little about me

I'm the Vice President of Relocation & Affiliated Services at Coldwell Banker Advantage, serving the Triangle and the Triad in North Carolina. I've worked in relocation for about three years and have been in this role for about eight months.

Before relocation, I built my career as a real estate broker. I've been licensed for about 10 years, I've led teams and brokerages, and I still serve as managing broker for our two referral firms at Coldwell Banker Advantage. Having sat on the agent side of the table for so long shapes how I approach relocation every day.

Our market here is very strong, with a lot of companies and industries driving growth across the region, and I'm excited to be part of it.

My favorite problem to solve: showing the value

Andrea asked what kind of problem I most enjoy solving. For me, it's showing value. When an agent calls and says, “Timothy, I don't want to pay this referral fee,” I love sitting down with them to look at where that money actually goes, why it's worth it, and why working with relocation makes sense.

When you flip the thinking from “you're taking money from me” to looking at it from a different vantage point, most agents see that the partnership is worth what they're paying for and then some. That's usually their “aha” moment, followed by “How do I get more involved?” As Andrea put it, a single referral isn't just one transaction. It's a door that leads to many more. Those conversations are what get me moving and make me want to do more.

What RDC membership means to me

I'm not new to relocation, but I am new to this role, and I'm most excited about building new connections. Whatever I can do to connect and build, I want to do it, not just to grow our business, but to grow professionally and as a member of the council.

And yes, you'll see me in Chicago for the fall meeting. My tickets are booked and my room is reserved.

One just for fun

If I could relocate anywhere in the world, it would be Puerto Rico. I first visited during COVID, when travel restrictions kept most of us close to home, and I fell in love with the culture, the island life and the chance to practice my Spanish. The climate isn't too different from North Carolina's, and I try to go back two or three times a year.

Thank you

Thank you to Andrea and to everyone at RDC for the warm welcome. I'm looking forward to meeting more of you in person and building partnerships that serve transferees and the companies that move them.
